Cohen Vaughan LLP, which opened its doors January 13, 2025, was created out of a vision for a better firm that we all knew we could build. We wanted an exceptional higher quality firm built around its high-quality attorneys, administrators, and staff who together comprise the colleagues we all want to surround ourselves with and provide an exceptional client experience. This desire will continue as we grow with careful intent to preserve our central values that make us who we are. We are different not for the sake of being different, but because we care and value our people and our clients, evidenced through actions.
We are a dynamic partnership bringing together established lawyers and administrators from leadership roles at seven different firms, ranging from large, multistate law firms to an esteemed trial boutique. The firm, headquartered in Philadelphia, opened with 18 offices across seven states.
Conversations among its our founding partners team centered on how to build a well-rounded law firm with strong trial and litigation services complemented by the scale and resources to serve large corporations and insurers, along with an emphasis on culture and a long-term vision to ensure growth and stability well into the future.
Cohen Vaughan handles civil litigation and trials catering to a wide variety of industries, with particular focus on construction and crane litigation, professional liability spanning accountant liability, lawyers malpractice, broker-dealer liability, and other miscellaneous E&O matters, directors and officers liability, employment counseling and litigation, government liability, commercial and business litigation, product liability, environmental and toxic torts, transportation, retail and hospitality, food and beverage, general casualty defense, workers compensation defense, OSHA matters, defense of institutional abuse claims, and insurance coverage.
The firm has nine founding partners who come from six different firms, and four “founding” C-Suite administrators coming from three different firms – including one firm that none of the founding partners come from.
The founders were very intentional about establishing a multigenerational leadership team to set the firm up for success in the near-term and long-term. As point of fact, six of our founders are well-established lawyers and leaders, each of whom have at least 30 years of experience; seven others, including three of our founding administrators, are a generation younger, every one of whom is not only a nuclear leader of our firm, but expected to lead the firm well into its future, ensuring the continuation of our founding vision along with consistency and stability for our clients. The creation of a built-in succession plan was an extremely important part of the vision.
